The Japanese electronics maker, Sony, has announced its first foray into the popular tablet PC market, unveiling two new devices. Sony will make its long-awaited entry into the PC market later this year with two models based on Google’s operating system.
The tablets, which carry the development names S1 and S2, will be launched worldwide from the fall onwards and were previewed on a Tokyo news conference in April. Sony has been developing these PC Tablets from some time and previously said it waited until it had something it was happy with.

Both Tablets will be running on Android 3.0 and will be able to access Sony’s curiosity, audio, video and e-book store and connect by a Wi-Fi and celular network.
The S1 has a 9.4 inch screen and at first glance it looks similar to most other tablets, but looked closer it’s shaped like a wedge, that makes it easier and more pleasant to hold, said Sony. The company has infrared transmitter into the S1, so it can be used to control gadgets around the house. It can also stream video and audio via the consumer electronics standard – D.L.N.A. That means for ex, that consumers will be able to buy a movie from the on-line curiosity store and the play it on their televisions by streaming it over Wi-Fi from the tablet.

The S2 is a folding device equipped with dual 5.5 inch screens and it’s small enough to fit in the inside pocket of a jacket. The S2 will be Playstation Certified, which means it will be able to run a new generation of Android-based software from Sony. When gaming, the top screen will show the game, and the bottom screen will have touch sensitive controls.
Though the people at Sony enhanced its features, the pricing wasn’t specified and the launch date will be in September 2011.
